Memories of Maine Gallery
Memories of Maine Gallery is located on Penobscot Avenue in Millinocket, Maine and is home to all of Jean McLeans' artwork and photography. It is also a custom frame shop and sells jewelry and antiques. One can be lost in the gallery for hours just browsing through art, photgraphy, prints, antiques, jewelry and fine gifts by other Maine crafters.
From Maine's highest peaks to its rocky shores and everywhere in between, Jean captures the picturesque state of Maine in her heart and paints those emotions on canvas for others to enjoy. Though Memories of Maine Gallery specializes in Mt. Katahdin, the highest mountain in Maine. Jean doesn't limit herself to just Mt. Katahdin, she also has a large variety of seascapes and lighthouses that she has painted and photographed over the years.
Jean explores all of Maine and in every season. She also enjoys capturing the different scenes she encounters with one of her many cameras. Prints of these pictures are available in the gallery along with prints of her original artwork. Jean's flower paintings are done in acrylic and pastels. The gallery has a section set aside that showcases many of her florals. Her lupine painting was entered in a juried show in Orono, Maine and the judges from the University of Maine Art Department gave it a first prize ribbon. The public then voted it "Best in the show." It is available in a large limited edition lithograph and in smaller giclee reproductions that are also limited editions.
